Joe's Rather Eventful Weekend, 9/19 - 9/21

Öffentlich
Saturday

This morning I did my GNB leveling that I wasn't able to do yesterday, doing my usual hunts & Pixie beast quests. And against my better judgement I went ahead and did something that I've avoided doing since . . . . . . . . . . can't remember: Tank a random (50/60/70 in this case). Luckily, this time, I got a good group. In fact:

And if I had those kind of groups more often, I might actually RUN THESE more often.

I also ran a bit of Guild Wars 2 this morning as well, this time running my warrior. Just did the usual map questing, as well as doing some group event - can't remember where - that involved a whole army of Centaurs. We all died a few times, but eventually cleared them out, and I got level 75. Five more for max level!

So, for this evening's Guild Wars 2 stream I started by giving my warrior a new look. One thing I noticed: They need to make the neck adjustable LMAO!

I was forced to make his head fairly big, just to make it fit the neck lol.

But otherwise I just did my usual, working on map completion, this time on my warrior. And man, this map is huge! (a place called "Gendarren Fields", or something like that) Lots of stuff to discover and unlock in this one. My warrior is already level 78 - much of the leveling done via crafting - two levels away from max level, and he's only done about 10% of all the maps in the game. But yet running them is still viable, thanks to level scaling (but unlike FF XIV this game doesn't grey out your abilities if their level requirement is too high for the area you're in, a HUGE plus). So, onward ho!

And the records I played today were:

Jethro Tull - Stand Up
Vangelis - Opera Sauvage
Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Tschaikovsky - 1812 Overture, and other filler tunes

Sunday

Did my Guild Wars 2 session way early today. Kinda like a few days ago, I woke up early and couldn't lay back down, so I just figured I might as well stream, make myself useful.

But anyway, to start the session (all warrior, by the way) I helped killed Shadow Behemoth, which spawned about 5 mins after I logged on. Talk about timing! After this, I did some more questing/event running, and eventually:

And just like most other MMOs, once you reach max level, you're basically playing a whole new game at this point, and Guild Wars 2 is no exception. I spent all but maybe the last 5 minutes of the session trying to figure the end-game crafting system out. It's non-linear, so there's a bunch of different types of gear, all made with different mats, that kept throwing me off.

And hell, I'm still doing level 30-40 content, so I still have much to keep me busy until I reach the end game proper. So, lots of stuff to keep me entertained until then.

And for the LP vinyls that played this evening they were:

The Honolulu Guitars - Hawaii, Isle of Paradise / The Charles "Kaipo" Miller Serenaders - Hawaiian Paradise
Bill Cosby - Revenge
Manuel Gottsching - Inventions for Electric Guitar
Tom Lehrer - That was the Week that Was
The Shaggs - Philosophy of the World

Monday

Had to leave work early, due to crushing my big toe off of a pallet jack. I'll have to see a doctor to find out if it's broken or not, and if it is I'll have to try to take time off, as there's no way in hell it'll heal up otherwise, not with all the walking I do at my job.

But otherwise I just went ahead and did my usual in FF XIV, running the hunts & Pixie beast tribe quests on my gunbreaker. Aaaand he reached level 78. Yaaaaay!

Another early Guild Wars 2 session today. And like recently, it was all warrior.

Tried a new dual-mace setup, my "Double Bonkers" build. Definitely a good setup, slightly better than the mace & shield - aka "Gourd & Board" - setup. At least I got an AoE knockdown attack now (gourd & board was only single-target). Still don't quite have the reflexes for this kind of build though, hitting my counters right after the monster attacks. Oh, and if this helps at all....:

Aaaaaand also, I completed the Gendarren Fields map!

And I also unlocked "masteries" that can be earned by doing various events. They kinda work the same way that the ones in Diablo 3 do, granting various bonuses that can be applied to all your characters on your account. But unfortunately, I can't use any of them until I complete the entire level 80 questline. So, plans have now changed. The goal will be to complete the entire vanilla questline in order to do the quest(s) required to unlock them, making map completion take a backseat role. I already have 5 mastery points just sitting there collecting dust. If I was to just keep doing what I had planned on doing, just completing maps, with the storyline coming along afterwards, it'd be a LONG time until I'd ever get to use those points. Hell, I'd probably wind up with _10,000__ mastery points by the time I'd get to spend them.

Oh, and to say nothing of the fact that, I keep getting a pop-up on the lower left corner that says something like "Hey, you got mastery points! Click here to use them!". It's getting very annoying having to hit ESC just for the sole purpose of getting that pop-up out of there. So, the sooner I can get those masteries unlocked, the sooner I can stop that fucking pop-up from popping up. I don't think the devs anticipated someone like me reaching level 80 while still doing level 30-40 content, but still,......

But before I start getting myself so pissed off I start punching walls, here's the vinyl records I spun this time around:

Bruce Springsteen - The River
Sheila E - The Glamorous Life
Butthole Surfers - Independent Worm Saloon
Jigs on the Green (Irish folk music)

Alrighty. Time to call it a night. <Take care.>, and have yourselves a good night/day. ;)>

So you are finally 80 in something? I have yet to hit 80, only 75.

Sooo many combos depending on what weapon you equip. Different weapons aren't just different stats in GW2, they're whole new buttons!

And yeah, soooo many lands to explore and quests to do. Are you doing your dailies to get the 2 gold and goodies? Oh, if you have not figured it out yet, try to sell your unwanted crap on the market before vendoring it. A lot of it sells for far more silver then vendor. People want that stuff

Yes, definitely agree, especially as warrior (discipline spec halves the weapon swap cooldown, to 5 seconds rather than 10). I tend to swap weapons a lot, based on the situation. So having a short cooldown makes this feasible. :]

And if I can easily reach a certain location I'll do that daily. Otherwise, probably not. And yeah, if I can get a good price on something (at least ~50S) I'll put it on the trading post, otherwise I'll just salvage it (I can always use the mats) if possible.
