Dear Sisters:
People say I am special all the time, but they usually keep leaving off the ELY as in 'you are especially beautiful Annabel', or 'you look especially radiant Annabel', and the occasional, 'Annabel, you are especially a pain in the ass', or 'Annabel, you are especially annoying'. (but we won't mention those...shhhhhhh.)
So why am I bringing this up now? Well dear ladies, it seems that the latest destination in these fruitless quests of Minfilia brought me in contact once more with those strange Sylphs; you know, the beings that actually praise me in my presence. (not like a certain someone who shall go nameless; cough..cough..Minfilia.) They call me special, but not in the right way, so I decided to teach them to add the ELY to make it Especially right.(See what I did there?)
(Ok, I SEE you two shaking your heads, I KNOW you are!)
Well all fun and proper phrasing of yours truly aside, I was told of a little problem, (surprise, surprise), One involving strange sightings and murders that were talking place in the woods around Gridania....
Ok, look, I NEED to stop there and bitch a bit. You are TELLING me that with the Twin Adders, the Wood Wailers, the special archers, the Conjurers and their whole guild, AND the independent forest people out there, that NO ONE can solve this? REALLY???!!! My God, what do these people DO all day? I mean if they need someone as screwed up as ME to help them, then that must REALLY tell you something about how this place is run!
Sooooo, being the nice, reasonable person that I am, (I hear you laughing Alea!), I decided on my own,(Not being asked...er ORDERED by Minfilia), to help them with their little problem. I headed off into the forest to investigate some vague clue about flying one eyed things and strange lights. This in turn led me to this group of REALLY messed up patrol guards, who personally I would not trust to guard anything.
Following their mostly really non helpful clues, I actually came across one of the bodies that was mentioned, but it seemed I was too early because the thing that had done it was still there. Amazingly it WAS a one eyed flying monster...er demon, whatever. (Who knew they existed? I would have bet money.) Even though it looked really dumb, it still had bite, but it was nothing I couldn't handle of course, awesome Adventurer that I am.
Afterwards I examined the poor victim, a girl, not much younger than Alea's age. Her face was really messed up for some reason, and was not a pleasant thing to see.
(You know, I tried to use this nifty Raise spell on her, but for some reason it didn't work. I don't know, maybe it has to be done right away?)
( No Alea, I was NOT sleeping during that lesson. AM a good Healer!)
Thoughtful woman that I am, I brought the body back to the town for identification. OF course no one had any idea who she was or where she had come from. (I'm soooo glad I don't live here!) All she had on her was a brooch of a lily. So with this in hand I went back to the main city to see if anyone knew what it was.
(GUESS what the answers were Sisters. If you said no clue, you win the prize!)
But, it DID finally lead me to the rich part of Gridania, which honestly didn't surprise me being used to the wealthy and their covering up things ALL the time.
(Did I hear two Sisters just mention a certain ball? It wasn't THAT bad. Ok, OK, getting banned for life was MAYBE that bad, but believe me, as bad as those parties are, I'm not missing anything, they're missing ME!)
As the daughter of a rich and distinguished family, you would think that I, Lady Annabel Ashcroft, most beautiful of the Ashcroft daughters, would have no problem getting into the closed off section where the elite resided. WRONG!!!!! Those stuck up snobs at the gate would NOT let me in, ME, Lady Ashcroft! It was pure snobbish discrimination I tell you; now tell me WHY I AM HELPING THESE PEOPLE AGAIN???!!! AGGGH!
After ranting at the guards for what was probably hours and drawing a crowd, I found out that one of them was actually the person I was seeking.
He told me a rather depressing tale of his former employer, Some Gridanian Lady who ended up horribly disfigured and resorted to some I would say extreme methods to regain her looks. (Now look, I am all for strange beauty treatments that work, but I draw the line at mutilating girls and summoning demons.) Plus, surprise surprise, guess who was at the bottom of this, Yes ladies, it was those masked suitors again. It was an amazing coincidence.
(No, I am NOT giving Minfilia credit for that!)
Having been given directions to this screwed up 'Lady's' manor, I made preparations to check out the place. But if you think this dear lovable healer was going in alone, you my sweet Sisters were mistaken.
Sigh, I will have to stop it here darlings. I am being told by the city guards that I have to pay yet ANOTHER fine for disturbing the peace. Seriously, I KNOW this is a plot for getting back the gil that they have been paying me for these stupid quests. I should just stay in jail and let this place go to rot!

LOL, I am beyond that now. Currently I am looking for Cid's airship. I write these when I do part of the main quest and stick it in drafts for later. I have like 4 stories done currently waiting to edit and release. I did the manor with my company, which was pretty easy and uneventful but I did write about it, which will be the next post.
Also, sorry I had to logoff so abruptly last night. You caught me right when I had to leave to do some work.
