There's the old saying "An army runs on its stomach" and in such I think after the few weeks I have spent so far here in Eorzea, I have begun to understand the very reasoning behind that.
I have spent many a day now working on my culinary skills; I eventually got more inclined to give it a try when I encountered not only the fineries that the nobility in Ul'Dah would indulge in, but also when I was introduced to the fascinating works of the Bismark in Limsa Lominsa; the idea that cooking could be seen not only as a means to keep people fed, hardy, and hale; but to be able to also give one more of an edge and a more sustainable focus when out working and learning, that began to make me realize how important food and drink is to any adventurer or soldier.
I started small when I began delving into the Culinary Arts; I started with things such as drying grapes to make raisins, to making simple cheeses and creams to be used in assorted other meals later on. Eventually I started moving into making confectionaries, apparently according to some of the Lominsan chefs, I seem particularly good at making Bubble Chocolate, which seems to be popular among both children and practitioners of the arcane.
I don't think I'll be taking this as a permanent course, but it certainly lends credence to how I can help both myself and those whom would support Gulgotha in getting an edge.
