**The Thorns of The Lotus' emblem || Placeholder image until I can find the time to draw the actual emblem**The Thorns Of The Lotus are an ancient order of Mi'qote healers of all stripes who possess exceptional abilities and to protect and tend to all those in need. They are a controversial group of men and women who dedicate the rest of their remaining lives wandering the realm until the diseases and illnesses they burden take their life. The Lotus do not interfere with political ideologies of men. They are known to look over racial, political, criminal, social and national backgrounds of those they tend to. Despite their small numbers, the Lotus have been instrumental in shaping the historical world to what it is today. The fate of a Lotus is a birthright. A child is marked from the very moment they first enter the world. Most consider this passage a blessing and are usually handed over to a chantry until they reach their twelfth birthday. Within the chantry, they are taught basic knowledge, language and history before being sent away into a monastery for three years. It is within the monastery that the individual is taught the way of the Lotus spiritually, physically and mentally.
The Lotus carry a great responsibility known as the Burden. It is an instrumental ability that allows their own body to become a vessel to host the disease and illness from a suffering patient. The burden is usually transferred by a deep state of meditation, where it is spiritually and physically removed from one body and poured into their own. It is a fast procedure if done correctly and is most likely stored within the healer until they pass.
The storage of a burden is difficult to explain, as it is simple to assume. All burdens that enter a healer's body is temporary. However, the presence of the illness or injury is soon then transferred into a spiritual state in a later form of meditation. As the Lotus have a deep connection with the spiritual world, all burdens are suppressed and controlled within it. However, it also becomes a beacon of negativity which in turn attracts the attention of spirits and demons.
Those born into the path of a Lotus have shorter lifespans than their brethren, depending on how many burdens have been transferred into their soul. It is a crippling affect to their mortality, where most would not live over two hundred years. When a Lotus is on the brink of their death, the burdens that they carry soon begin to affect their spiritual health. This stage is called the Infusion, where the individual begins to show signs of sickness. It is the start of a distressing and painful procedure, where most abruptly leave on a pilgrimage at the early signs of dying.
All Lotus who begin the Infusion leave to go far deep within the Twelvewoods of Gridania, where it is said that an ancient temple of where the Lotus first began dwells deep within, and in turn, where their journey will end. It is here that the Lotus spend their final days, until they are taken into the planes of the Heavens by the Gods.

I'm just wondering why there's a picture of an elf when you're talking about cats?
If that elf is supposed to be me, i'm a male.
Thank you, Verity and Ra~! Also, the photo is the Order's emblem. ^.^
I probably should have mentioned that in the entry. Sorry;; I didn't mean to cause any confusion with it /)///(\
Why does a cat order have an emblem of an elf?
It's just a placeholder photo until I can find the time to draw the one I plan on having for it.
I've been going through a bad art block lately, so I haven't been able to get around to drawing it.
