Anna's tech reviews:Logitech G-Fits

Öffentlich

Ditzy Anna here with another Computer accessory review. This time I will be telling you about the Logetich G-fits; their version of gaming ear buds. Are they any good you may ask; well I will tell you!

Note: Of course this is my and MY alone opinion of these things, so if you actually have them and don't agree with me, that is OK! You know what you like, I hope! HA!

Ok, lets get started. Logitech G-Fits. What are they? wireless earbuds designed for gamers who want alternatives to headphones. As I said in my review of the Sony SRS-NS7, some people just really, REALLY hate wearing headphones and would like a sound alterative to them for gaming. Bluetooth earbuds don't really cut it because of the whole latency thing. (I will get into this later though) So there is not much choice out there other than a few versions made by companies such as Razer. G-Fits is Logitech's attempt at it. Did they succeed? Well, yes and no.

Their version addresses the latency thing by having the G-fits connect via dedicated dongle, just like most wireless gaming headphones do. This, unlike standard bluetooth sound devices, (NS7, I am looking at YOU!), allows both sound and voice chatting at the same time. It DOES work......kind of, which I will get into later.

The unique thing about the G-Fits is the molding tips for your ears. It uses special light and heat tech to mold the tips to your ears for a specialized fit. If you look at reviews of this, you will see people bitch about how uncomfortable it was. Bullshit, those people were just weak wussies. There is NOTHING uncomfortable about it, just a minor warmness and tingling feeling in your ears. It lasts a minute then it is over. The fit of them, at least in my ears is very good; they block out a good amount of sound and stay in place. I read though if you have small ears the tips they come with may not work well and you will need to get smaller ones which are $30 a pop.

So sound, just HOW good are these things. Actually very good for earbuds. The sounds are strong and loud to my ears. FF14 sounded fine with no issues hearing anything. Other games were ok too. Video watching was ok, though not as good as gaming. Something was kind of missing, maybe strong bass that other things have. To compare them to the SRS-NS7, the Sonys are better, but that's not surprising, the NS7 is just a really good piece of sound tech.

The G-fits can also do normal bluetooth too. The sound through bluetooth is not bad, but not as good as with the dongle. I actually have tested this out on Xbox games. And before you say anything, yes, you CAN use the Xbox-series X with wireless bluetooth devices, you just gotta know HOW to do it. ;-) (Cough, bluetooth transmitter, cough)

But the microphone, oh the microphones on these things......Ok, I won't beat around the bush, it is SHIT! Do NOT believe any review where they say it is good, it is NOT!!!!!!!

Ok, MAYBE too harsh. It is......passible? If by passible you are fine with sounding blah and average on things such as Discord. Your voice is NOT going to sound super great with the G-fits, but hey, at least you get both voice and sound with a non headphone thing, right, RIGHT?

Oh, and totally, TOTALLY forget using these with Voiceattack. The software will screw up a LOT because it can't hear you clearly using the G-fits mics. It's really sad considering how much these cost. I mean seriously, I have a $6 lapel mic that is lightyears better then the mics in these things.

Speaking of cost; these things are....wait for it......$230. Yep, NOT kidding. $230 Honey, they are NOT worth THAT much! No WAY! Maybe $100-$125, but not no $230. Not with that crappy Microphone. Plus there is NO wireless charging of the case and NO noise cancelling at ALL. Seriously, $230 and none of that crap that lesser earbuds have? WTF?

If you are wondering, I did NOT pay that for these. In fact due to a bit of a mess up because of Logitech's stupidity and laziness I got them for free. I would never, never have kept them if I had to actually pay $230.

But to be honest, Microphone and ridiculous cost aside, they are not THAT bad. They are very light in your ears, have long range from the dongle, and you can easily move around and not have your ears feel contained like wearing headphones. They also have easy switching if you have them synced with your phone so you can answer calls while playing games and have the voice come though them.

So are they for you? Well, they ARE an alterative if you hate headphones, and they DO allow simultaneous voice chatting and game sounds, so there is that. If you hate the mic, you could always use them with a mic alternative. When using Voiceattack while raiding, I actually use the G-Fits in combination with the SRS-NS7's super awesome microphone connected via bluetooth to the computer. It works very well since I have G-fits wireless sound and NS7's wireless mic.

(Sigh, I STILL cry that the NS7 can't do both sound and mic voice at the same time, it would then be the PERFECT sound source for gaming!)

Ok, enough of that. I am going to revisit something I said earlier about bluetooth devices not cutting it for game usage. This is NOT entirely true. I recently got the Samsung Galaxy buds pro 2.

(Yeah yeah I know, ANOTHER one. Well, I got a really good deal on them and I was looking for something new to use while walking.)

Anyway, curious I synced them to my computer, (and xbox!) to see how well they would sound when playing games.....

HOLY CRAP! They did not sound good, they sounded SURPERB!!!!! :O

Seriously, I was astounded by how good they sounded with FF14. Super crisp and clear, strong bass, nice and loud. Sure the latency was there for stuff where you saw people talking, but otherwise you did not notice it at all. I think the NS7 might be better though, I would have to really compare the two, though it might be hard since they each transmit sound differently to the ears. The NS7 does not have latency though thanks to the optical dongle , but the NS7 can't have headphone Atmos sound on the computer or Xbox like with the Galaxy buds pro 2. ( G-fits does Atmos too) The Buds 2 pro were also really, REALLY good with Xbox games.

Sadly though, the Buds pro 2 cannot be both voice and sound so no using with VA unless I plug a mic into the xbox controller. (I mean it's doable, but easier to just do the G-Fits/NS7 combo and be able to move around)

So there you go, more sound review crap. You might think I'm an idiot for spending so much money on these silly speakers, and you would be RIGHT! But like I said, I did not pay anything for the G-fits, and I got the buds 2 pro for $80, so not too bad.

But you know the funny thing? Other then raiding or situations when I want to use Voiceattack or nighttime gaming, I actually rarely use head or ear phones ever since I finally got a Atmos soundbar system for my tv. Everything just sounds soooo good though that. But for times I can't , at least I DO have alternatives. LOL
