Seriously, about half of the players online are ALL AFK and taking up slots. If we raise enough fuss about it hopefully SE will take notice and finally introduce the AFK timer that ALL other MMOs have.

The problem isn't the afkers, even though it would be nice if they'd get booted, the problem is the planning, and server capacity, they need to fix that shit now.
Indeed. Although the AFK timer should be a tiny bit more lenient than some people recommend (I typically see 5-10 minutes). Given that timer, if one were to have an issue to address, they would reenter the portal to hell (more commonly referred to as 1017). An AFK timer of 30 minutes would be ideal, in my opinion. Your thoughts, OP?

Please SE create an AFK timer! Please! I am sick of when I actually manage to slip into a slot that all I see are Carbuncles standing around everywhere because the dicks summoned them then went to bed. Enough already.
Haha, man I wish that were true, but you should know by now. They aren't going to do a THING about that. They can't handle the server capacity let alone adding something to the game. I wish they would just like you, but I don't expect anything until late October of 2015!
It takes time to get things fixed and to figure out how much a server can handle. They are more than likely building new servers and testing them. And yes a boot system would be amazing so some of us had a better chance to play with these restrictions in place.
30 minutes is plenty enough time. That would get everybody who's asleep or at work out of the game and allow those of us who aren't to hop in. I'm baffled as to why there wasn't one originally.
the server cap is asful so u have the afkers stayin on takin up slots 2 keep from dealing with it but thats totally not fair to others

Yeah, Eorzea is a cluttered mess at the moment! The higher powers really need to do something about this!
Agreed, we can only hope that gets implemented. I was playing yesterday for a few hours and every time I ran by an area in Gridania, I saw the same characters standing there. I haven't even been able to play at all today yet and shouldn't have to as far as getting in game before I leave for work and stay AFK just to be able to play at some point when I get home
So start spamming the Blog and Forums! POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
