Introduction - Character Biography

"In a flash of light: everything and everyone mesa once knew were gone. Yet, something compels mesa press on... To become the Warrior of Light I'm truly meant to be."

FFXIV Bio: With only mesa name to remember: mesa set forth to rediscover who mesa is, what mesa purpose is, and to try to remember everything mesa had forgotten. Greetings all!! Ronan Lunarwynd is mesa name and Final Fantasy XIV is mesa game. At some point in mesa life: mesa was cast into the plane between various realities where MMO genres, languages, antics, and shenanigans collide. As mesa took mesa first steps into the city of Limsa Lominsa: this world of Eorzea seems strangely familiar and totally foreign in many respects. Has mesa been here before? What happened to mesa? Why can't mesa remember? Why can mesa remember how to use these various weapons mesa have; but, can't remember why mesa used them? In spite of or because of these questions: mesa have a burning desire to learn or even relearn what is truly means to be the Warrior of Light.

Side Note: The "language" above extends from mild RP in another MMO and stems from previous RL interactions with a group of friends. While I have never fully immersed myself in RP: I have been told that RP players are often the best people befriend as they want to see other players progress through the story of FFXIV and be successful at it. As to how the two biographies intermesh: it is a long story; but, know the mannerisms, personality, goofy antics, weird shenanigans, and reactions are all interwoven between who I am in RL and who I am in FFXIV.

RL Bio: My initial returned to FFXIV was short lived due to various RL issues. Needless to see, I am trying to remember alot from my restart and to get my "bearintgs." Needless to say, numerous physical ailments and a slight neurological issue has left FFXIV even fuzzier than it was before; but, I am hoping that clears up in time. As such, I have decided to take the "long" approach to FFXIV. Explore everything, do everything, and experience everything FFXIV has to offer game wise.

Character Name Meaning:

Ronan - Hebrew meaning to sing. As someone who loves music (including playing the piano and organ): mesa sing with mesa fingers instead. :-)
Lunarwynd - 'Lunar' represents the night. As the majority of my play time is at night and night time has always been mesa favorite time. -- 'wynd' refers to the wind itself in that it goes where it will. The wind is sometimes referred to as being "free" and because mesa have been told that mesa is a "free spirit" and "an old gentle, loving, compassionate soul like a gentle breeze born into a world when the winds of hate seek to snuff you out."

Return to Final Fantasy XIV - Round 2

In life: things never turn out the way one plans. To fully understand my return: one must understand where one has been. My MMO experience was limited as the only MMOs I had ever really tried was Eve Online and Star Wars The Old Republic. While both of the games had their fair share of "rude" or "mean" people: I normally stayed to myself and attempted to being pulled into a bunch of mess that was normally outside the scope of the particular MMO. Back in 2021: a friend of mine suggested I give Final Fantasy XIV a try. He said that the players were a lot nicer and that he thought I would enjoy it as RL circumstances often prevent me from being able to "hang out with (RL) friends." He was already far ahead in FFXIV; but, said that I would "catch up in no time." Without understanding the nuances of FFXIV: I took a chance and bought the game. After about three weeks: I received a free company invite (not going to name names) and after asking a couple of questions (per guidance in YT) I joined. Everything seemed be going good. I was playing every day, participating in FC events, doing dailies with FC members, and enjoying FFXIV.

"All good things must come to an end." Shortly after New Years: the FC received a influx of new members. "Awesome!! The FC is growing!! FFXIV is growing!!" Those thoughts would soon become a death nail. Sometime in March of 2022: things started to become "uneasy." The normal "helpful" and "friendly" converstaions became more combative and FC members would often argue over who is right when it came to various things in the game. Toward the end of April of 2022: the thought of signing into FFXIV make me almost sick feeling. At the time: I did not know you could leave a FC (I thought it was a permanent thing) and didn't know that Square Enix had strict policies regarding player abuse or "hurtful" activities. I was kinda use to degradation while in Eve or SWTOR: I normally just kept to myself unless someone in the FC asked for help or asked a question I knew I could answer. Then in May of 2022: things fell apart fast. My RL friend that had encouraged me to play FFXIV had quit due to RL issues, the FC chat became a cesspool of derogatory speech, and many FC members started leaving. Granted: I hadn't really became "close" to anyone in the FC; but, I did have a few "friends" in the FC (or so I thought). In late June of 2022: I had just finished the quest to unlock Shadowbringers when a "shout" message came across. While the thought of RP in FFXIV seemed intriguing and several YouTube videos had stated that the RP community in FFXIV was the most "helpful" to players: I really hadn't explored the RP side of FFXIV. However, this message was regarding a "venue" that was reopening for the summer and they were having their first "party" of the year. I messaged the person who send the shout message asking about the "event" and they were very nice. I decided to go. That whole evening: I spent dancing, listening the the DJ they had, and chatting with other players. Yes it was a RP club; but, it wasn't (as some would say) slimy. Most of the open discussion was among players about how Shadowbringers had "wrecked them emotionally" without giving details. As the night wore on and it was getting late: I thanked the person that posted the chat noticed, thanked everyone for a great evening, returned to the homeworld my character was on, and went to bed.

A few days later (after dealing with some RL stuffs that took my undivided attention): I signed back into FFXIV and opened Discord. What I found in Discord let me in disbelief and what was being said to me in FC chat.... Well... I wouldn't talk to the devil himself the way I was being talked to. I had a message from the FC leader stating "we don't like (a certain group of people) in the FC and that I was forbidden to go to any "venues" like that again. Again, not knowing that I could have left the FC at that time: I apologized and logged of Discord. In game: the slanderous, verbally/emotionally abusive comments, and other "hate" speech continued. At that point, I wasn't in the mood to try to deal with that as all I wanted to do was play the game; but, rather than causing any issues: I simply logged out. A couple of weeks went by and I signed into FFXIV and Discord only to be greeted with NUMEROUS messages of various insults to one suggesting I need to "jump off the highest bridge." I was no longer a member of that FC and had been removed from its Discord server. It was at that moment: I deleted my character, unsubbed, deleted my Discord account, and walked away. At that point: if I wanted such slur and slander directed toward me: I could just have gone around certain family members, not needing from those who were total strangers.

Before deleting my Discord account: I spoke with the RL friend (who suggested I try FFXIV) regarding what happened and he was in total disbelief. He begged me to not give up on the game; but, it was too late. However, the story of FFXIV and the game itself kept nawing at me as time went on. I found myself wondering what happened next or what was so "emotionally wrecking" in Shadowbringers. Many times I had thought about trying the game again; but, something inside me kept saying it was "not the right time" and to wait for a "sign." Then in May of 2023: I had been following some of the FFXIV news and continued to watching a few select streamers of FFXIV on YouTube. One of them touched on things that the devs didn't tolerate. Knowing this now: I decided to return to FFXIV. I bought the game again (as I couldn't remember the username I had before and had deleted the email account I had used) and restarted FFXIV. I had created my character on Dynamis as I remembered enough of the jobs I had played previously to do a lot of stuff solo. I had been taking it very slow and attempting to explore everything as I went. In June of 2023: my life semi fell apart. I had an accident at home that left me unable to walk and had caused memory issues. I spent 4 months in the hospital learning how to walk again. While I have recovered physically: the "gaps" in my mind regarding FFXIV are vast. I have a pretty clear memory of events up until June. Now, it is November and I am just now getting back to playing FFXIV. While I am still in ARR: there is a lot of "fuzziness" about what happened before had. However, with the use of the cutscene replays: I am able to piece most of it back together. In spite of Dynamis being a quiet datacenter: I find my curiosity and "desire" to play FFXIV growing. While I don't have much of a memory of FFXIV from May to June: I have pretty much gotten somethings figured back out and I am looking forward to seeing where the story goes. It is my hope that I can become part of the "awesome FFXIV community" as my journey progresses. So, if you happen to see this character running around on Maduin: feel free to say hi or offer a hug.
