Luci awoke to a gentle nudging, lifting her head to look at who disturbed her sleep, she realized a coat lay draped around her. Blinking her eyes into focus she found that her retainer had made good time. "Greetings Ma'am" said the retainer, "I have done as you instructed and brought you some gil that I had been holding onto." Luci outstretched her hand, with her palm turn upright, she gestured for the bag. The retainer produce a small bag of coins, holding maybe thousand or so gil in it. Enough for proper lodgings and food for now. Luci tucked the small bag coins into pocket located on her belt, and with a wave of her hand dismissed the retainer to return to the city from which she came. With a bow the retainer left Luci. Not caring from where the coat that laid across her had come from she pulled it back up to better cover herself, sitting there she started to form a plan in which to make her way to the Umbra Isles. She knew they lay just a short ways off the coast here. Hiring a ferryman would most likely be sufficient and now that she had the coins to pay him it would work. As Luci stood she was about to leave the coat where she was just sitting but on a whim decided to keep it. Holding it out and examining it, it appeared to look like a Kirimu Coat. It wouldn't offer very much in the ways of protection but would be sufficient in aiding Luci in staying warm. Readjusting her equip to better fit with the jacket on was a little tough. It offer no real good place for her shield to latch onto. Leaving Luci no other option to then to strap it to her arm and carry it there. The jacket was big on her, as if it was meant for another who stood a good foot taller then her current stature. Luci wasn't one to look down on free gifts that were bestowed upon her. Taking one final glance at herself Luci made her way to the docks. Arriving at the docks she cast her glaze over them searching out a ferrymen, in her search she noted that there was 3 ferries present. Strolling up to a ferry Luci spotted its owner, inspecting the knots and ropes that keep his ferry from drifting off. The ferryman stood around 5-10, had well developed muscles and a long beard, was wearing pants and a shirt with missing sleeves. Bits and pieces of hair could be seen stretching out from under the wrap on his, as if his hair was seeking the light. The ferry owner looked up as Luci approached, "I'm closed for the night." he said. "look I need a ride." Luci said. "Well that's nice, but I already told you I'm closed." "Tell me how much it would take to have you reconsider your decision?" Stroking his beard he replied, "About four times the normal fee, would most likely be enough to change my mind." Luci paused for a moment to consider the arrangement. "OK" she replied. "Alright where are you headed?" "To the Umbra Isles" she said. upon hearing the destination the Ferryman shook his head and replied "If you wish for me to take you there then its gonna be fifteen times the normal rate." Shock and angered filled Luci's face, "that's absurd" she yelled. "Well if you don't like it then go away. I doubt anyone else would even consider heading out at this hour, even less chances of them considering to go near that place." Luci stood there considering her options. "look if I don't hear a yes from you in the next 5 minutes or less then forget it, deal off." Luci stared the Ferry man down. He returned her stare with one of his own. Knowing that he was right and that no one else would dare go near those isles Luci broke the stare and drop her head to her chest along with slumping her shoulders forward. "Fine its a deal then." "Good." he said, with an outstretched hand, gesturing for the coins that were promised. Reaching into her coin purse Luci produce 525 coins worth of gil and placed them into the Ferryman hand. He proceeded to count each and every coin to make sure that the amount promised had been met. With a look of satisfaction on his face he walk over and slipped the coins into a bag. Turning around to face Luci he said "you coming or what?" With that Luci hurried over and stepped aboard the ship. It didn't take long for the the ferryman to ready the boat and shortly they were headed towards the Umbra Isles. the Journey to the Island didn't take long. Standing at the front of the boat as the Isles grew in size Luci closed her eyes and thought to herself, "not much longer my beloved" and reciting her own secret chant of vengeance, "Nothing will stand in my way! Everything I do, I do for you!" For a moment her thoughts swayed to when they first met. The excitement and the smile that first covered her face, now seem like distant memory, one that she could not seem to grasp a hold of. The memory grew more elusive the more she tried to recalled it. As she open her eyes tears began to fall down her face. Resting both hands above her heart, she stood vigilant as isles grew nearer.
