A bastard child born from an affair between a distinguished, high nobleman and a daughter of lower nobility, Aesir struggled to acquire recognition and familial comfort from his father and half-siblings. While he was cared for and treated as family in private, it was difficult to reveal and elaborate on his circumstances, and he was often hidden away, never feeling truly accepted as part of his father’s family. The branding of his mother’s maiden name of Vanguardia since his birth was proof of his shamed existence, and being hidden away forced Aesir to cope and find comfort in solitude.

Perplexed and agonized by his own identity, Aesir left his home of 18 years under the cover of night, eventually finding himself in Eorzea. In order to find his true calling, Aesir sought apprenticeship in different crafts and arts of war, gaining worth and experience in all professions, but like a true Jack, he was unable to excel at any one trade. Here, he resolved to progress at all trades until mastery of each was attained, and in doing so, he hopes to find acceptance, and his own reason of existence.
