Full confession: I'm a glamaholic. Those 5 extra glamour plates from 6.1? Already used up. 17 of them are for, you guessed it, my samurai. How can one come up with 17 different samurai glams, you may ask. Truth be told, that's just a fraction of the 58 glamours I've submitted to Eorzea Collection over the past year. Like I said, glamaholic. As a glamaholic, I know where the nearest glamour dressers are and visit them often. It's not all that inconvenient. Yet, from an immersion/rp standpoint, it's still a bit grating that I still cannot meddle with my glamours in the privacy of my FC house. I can do nearly everything else except this (still would be nice to exit sleep from my personal room).
The reasons why there isn't a glamour dresser, as given by Yoshi P, seem quite sound. There's lots of data attached to the glamour dresser and lot of risk with it being able to be moved/removed. Not only does it store up to 400 items, it also stores what they're dyed. As a developer myself, I get it, that can be risky. Yet, also as a developer, it gnaws at me to come up with some kind of way around this to make everyone happy.
This is where Glamour Dressing Rooms comes in.
Instead of having a furnishing that's directly connected to the Glamour Dresser, have a Glamour Dressing Room which loads the character into a small instanced room with the glamour dresser and armoire inside. It'd function just like the inn room this way. That way the glamour dresser is only accessible by one character and cannot be moved and removed.
If there's worry about poeple moving or removing the dressing room, then do not make it a furnishing at all. Instead, making it a housing feature in some form. For an FC house, make it a feature you can purchase that's accessible at the same point that the private rooms are accessed. For personal housing, introduce some awkward little door somewhere where they can purchase the dressing room. Same thing for apartments.
The basic idea is instead of bringing the dresser to the house, bring a mini inn room to the house that has the dresser in it. It's quite likely this idea has been thought of before and I'm too lazy to google it. Even so, it seems like a solid idea that would counter the lots of data risk Yoshi P has mentioned in the past.

We dont need new room. We need new system. Away with dresser that causes only pain and suffering.
I agree. The glamour system needs a dramatic overhaul. My idea was in lieu of that happening. I'll write up about that overhaul in the near future.
