Had to go to sleep 2 hours earlier than usual to get enough sleep for waking one hour before early access. Took 30 minutes to make a character. Got to level 7, but friend woke up then and couldn't make a character on my server, so I made a new one on another server with him. Then, the Duty Finder server broke and an emergency maintenance was made.
Worst of all, it is all worth it!

I wish I could be as optimistic as you are over the maintenance. I thought Square was trying to change and become more acceptable to other countries, so far all I have seen is the UK and US get pushed aside over FF XIV. The japanese website gets lots more information updates with better customer service and their servers always seem to be more sturdy. The game isn't even out yet and I have had nothing but trouble with it. Please send me some optimis :)
Give it a couple of days. The troubles they have now couldn't have been reproduce without the tsunami of players there is now. For sure at official release they will have a better working system.
I hope the launch is smooth, bad betas i can understand, betas are supposed to help indentifiy flaws and bugs. Early access was the pre order bonus though not a stress test. It might only seem small but each problem with FF pushes people back to the previous MMO they played
