Personality
Aoife tends to be fairly quiet; she typically doesn't contribute much to conversations, but when she does have something to say, others describe her voice as warm and sure. When she was younger she had trouble talking about herself, but has since become more confident in speaking her mind. Though she doesn’t mind being alone, she’s happiest when spending time with people she trusts.

Though making new friends can be hard for her, once one does manage to secure her friendship, they will find Aoife to be a staunchly loyal (and occasionally teasing) companion. She tries her best to be cool and collected around those she holds in high regard, but will tend to be a little more spontaneous and silly toward those she considers her equals or rivals.

Aoife's hobbies include admiring the sky at dawn and dusk, people-watching, and coordinating glamours. Fashion is almost as important to her as physical strength, and she uses clothing to express herself in ways she can't with words. She also has a particular fondness for dodos, as their round shape and bulging eyes fill her with inexplicable joy.

Backstory
Aoife’s birth mother was killed while traveling through Coerthas (whether by bandits or by overzealous Ishgardian soldiers remains unclear). Though she was a toddler at the time, Aoife survived, and her cries were heard by a passing pair of Elezen merchants named Estellise and Pierremont Asturmaux. The merchants couldn’t bear to leave the child in the snow beneath her mother’s corpse, and decided to raise Aoife as their own daughter.

Aoife was viciously bullied in school because her ears immediately marked her as an outsider, so her parents gave her an enchanted pendant that would glamour her to appear as an Elezen to any who beheld her. After arriving in New Gridania and seeing a variety of races coexisting, Viera included, Aoife wondered if she might be able to live as her true self here - but she was still nervous about others seeing her for who she is, and refused to remove the pendant unless she was alone.

During the battle at the Praetorium, Aoife’s pendant was destroyed in combat with the Ultima Weapon. Rather than remake it anew, though, Aoife decided to gather her courage and start living as her real self, ears and all.
