Merrdyn Caelstani, once a simple apprentice to the great tailor Elim Garak, set out on a task for his master and teacher to find new fabrics and techniques throughout Eorzea. This went as planned until a quick 3-hour tour of Limsa Lominsa put him in the path of the Serpent Reavers.

Using some scant defensive spells that Merrdyn had learned on his travels to defend himself, he quickly caught the attention of the Arcanist's Guild - whereupon they offered him a membership in exchange for him helping them to maintain their robes. During one of his trips through Limsa Lominsa's lower decks, he noticed the exquisite tailoring of V'kebbe's fine garments and followed her to the Dutiful Sisters of the Edelweiss. It was here that he learned of a craft that used daggers like one might a needle.

Merrdyn then embarked on his career as a Rogue until he met Tsubame and marveled at the fine silks of her garment - upon trying to find out their source and the techniques involved he was then recruited by Oboro to learn the craft of the Ninja. This partnership/apprenticeship lasted for a time until he came across the stylish X'rhun Tia.

X'rhun Tia having need of a tailor, and Merrdyn wanting to learn to weave the arts of a blade and that of the arcane like one would a fine fabric decided to embark on a partnership of sorts with X'rhun Tia. Merrdyn would tend to his gaskins to prevent any unseemly tears, and X'rhun Tia would teach Merrdyn.

Unfortunately like all his previous ventures this to would pass when he was once against astonished by the beautiful tapestry of movements by Nashmeira and her troupe. Merrdyn began to study their craft....
