Born to a Hyur father and an Au'ra mother, Torma was raised on a small homestead in the wilderness of Othard. Her mother left when Torma was young, seeking to fight for Doma's freedom from the Garlean Empire, leaving Torma in the care of her father and her mentor, an Elezen conjurer who had met the family when he came to Othard to learn of the Doman faith.

When imperial agents came to the homestead seeking to punish the family for their mother's part in the rebellion, Torma's father sent her away with her mentor, who took her to Eorzea. There, Torma studied conjury, among other combative disciplines, hoping to one day return to Doma and find her parents.

Much later, Torma was commissioned by the Hearers of Gridania to investigate a strange entity running rampant in the Black Shroud, which the elementals seemed to believe was Torma herself. This entity turned out to be a pixie, which had somehow found their way to the Source. Through trickery, Torma managed to capture the pixie, and after a lengthy negotiation, the two reached an agreement, forming a pact in which both parties could call upon each other for aid, with the condition that the pixie would ensure their pranks and games do not cause permanent harm to anyone.

Unbeknownst to the pair, the pixie was in fact Torma's reflection from the First, and as such this pact ran far deeper than either of them expected, allowing Torma to call upon the fey powers her reflection possessed, and allowing the pixie to recall their past life as a child in Voeburt.

Since then, Torma and the pixie have been traveling the world together, making mischief and connections wherever they go.
