The Scene

Outside the Chamber of Rule in the grandest seat in all of Ul'dah, Lysa Wonderland paces across the carpet, muttering to herself.

"Good evening Your Grace", she says under her breath. "It is the highest of honours to meet you." A moment, and she shakes her head. Too formal.

"Hello there, Sultana Nanamo! My, that's a lovely dress you're wearing!" A moment, and she shakes her head. Too personal.

As Lysa next starts, the heavy doors rumble open. Stepping through is the Bull of Ala Mhigo, the legendary gladiator General Raubahn. Lysa's only heard the stories; even those hardly did his intimidating presence justice. On the Bull's shoulder is seated the Sultana Nanamo Ul Namo, Her Grace dressed in royal fineries with a crown to compliment it.

The sultana locks eyes with the tall Elezen woman. "Good evening, Warrior of Light," she says with an aura of warmth, practiced and pitch perfect.

The Elezen woman's mind races. And then crashes in a spectacular wreck.

"How's it hanging, shortie?!"

An uncomfortable silence hangs in the air. Then hangs heavier, time itself is sagging under the weight of the awkwardness. What should be ten seconds feels like an hour.

"Close enough," says the Warrior of Light under her breath.
